At the suggestion of Dr. Pierre-Michael Meier, CHCIO, the healthmediaaward.com selection panel deliberated and decided to award the Health:Angel to the University of California San Diego Health System on July 1, 2021. This is in particular to recognize the leading role of the university during the COVID-19 pandemic and the establishment of scientific exchange between the most important research institutions in the United States of America and Germany. On Oct. 26, 2021, the Health:Angel could now be handed over in San Diego.
